Most congregations, communities of faith, are
always in the process of becoming... Hopefully we never think we have reached
the stage of "arrival". This means we never give up and we continually
strive to do our best to understand our relationship to God and our "Neighbor".
This implies that we must become the best disciples we can be, and we do
the work here on earth that God has sent us out to do.
Who Are We?
We are God's people who "Go in PEACE and SERVE
the Lord" in our daily lives.
What does this mean?
- We live and serve with calm assurance that we are God's people.
- We leave our anger and anxieties at the altar with God, knowing He
will give us peace.
- We reflect Jesus Christ's love for us through our actions in the
world, in the community, in the congregation and in our households.
- We seek to serve others in our daily lives, giving glory to God.
With the full sense of God's presence.
What does this mean?
- We put God first in our lives.
- We acknowledge God's presence among us and with us in all that we
do.
- We will reinforce "God first" through worship and education.
In addition, we are a community of people which includes school teachers,
former missionaries, factory workers, business people, musicians, nurses,
retired people, young families and people from all walks of life.
In other words we are a diverse family of faith.
What Do We Do?
We love and respect; accept and forgive; strengthen
and challenge one another.
What does this mean?
- We will love one another and respect differences.
- We will warmly welcome all people into the life of this congregation.
- We will be peacemakers, seeking reconciliation and offering forgiveness
in the face of conflict.
- We will support and encourage one another through our commitment
of time, talents, and resoures to the mission and ministry carried out by
this congregation.
- We will challenge one another to be who we say we are in this Mission
Statement.
Included in the foregoing statements is our community of faith's involvement
in numerous community at large service activities. Some of these include
support for the Center for Women in Transition organization, support for
people in need of emergency help, Adult and childhood religious studies,
support of Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Social Services, Global ELCA Missionary,
and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
We welcome all people who need and desire the encouragement
and love of a family of faith.
